Meet Dr. Knight

Dr. Knight Jan 2016) (640x380)Dr. Knight is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Born and raised in Northern California, Dr. Knight completed her undergraduate education at U.C. Berkeley, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology and a minor in Women’s Studies. While attending college she received recognition for her contribution to the development of a traveling health clinic for the homeless.   Dr Knight came to St Louis and earned a Master’s degree in Anatomy and Neurobiology from Saint Louis University where she also attended Medical School. In addition to her medical accomplishments, Dr. Knight is a mother, speaks Spanish and she is a licensed pilot.

Dr Knight currently is a practicing Ob/Gyn and is the CEO of Women’s Health Specialists of Saint Louis and is the current Medical Director for the Family Planning Clinic of Franklin County.  In addition to her medical practice, Dr Knight has contributed to the development of international medical technology as a consultant and routinely works on international women’s health issues. She is the past medical director for Unite The World With Africa and has worked in Tanzania providing women’s health training for medical providers. She also worked for the US Embassy in Malaysia on women’s health issues. Dr. Knight is sought after as a national speaker.  In 2015,  she lobbied on Capitol Hill about our national health care system. She currently makes a monthly appearance on Great Day Saint Louis and she has been featured on “Birthday”, a Discovery Health Channel program and has made an appearance on NBC Nightly News. She was also the co-host of Body Language, a national radio program.

Dr. Knight is passionate about women’s health and she sees her career as a privilege.  She enjoys the opportunity to educate women about their bodies, in particular about hormonal changes that occur throughout each month and throughout the lifetime.  It is Dr Knight’s hope that through her contributions, she can help women everywhere be better educated, in better health, and empowered.

Meet Dr. Eastep

Dr. Laura EastepDr. Laura K. Eastep is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Eastep is an Alabama native who was raised in Southeast Texas. She received her undergraduate degree from Lamar University in her hometown of Beaumont, Texas, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Dr. Eastep received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She also completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident, also receiving several “Golden Apple” awards for medical student teaching.

Dr. Eastep is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Association for Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Her professional interests include routine and high risk obstetrics, comprehensive women’s health including preventative medicine, family planning, nutrition and general patient education, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Eastep’s personal passions include health, fitness and nutrition. She enjoys cooking, strength training, running, spinning, and traveling with her husband.

Meet Dr. Sillas

Dr. Lindsay SillasJ. Lindsay Sillas, M.D. (formerly known as J. Lindsay Reed, M.D.) is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Dr. Sillas attended MICDS before matriculating to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a second degree in Romance Languages. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.

She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis where she served as an Administrative Chief Resident. She received honors during residency as Resident of the Year for teaching and she was awarded first prize for Dr. David Rothman Research Day in 2012. While in private practice, Dr. Sillas has enjoyed delivering infants and performing surgery but her professional interests also extend to adolescent health, exercise and nutrition, promoting wellness of women. She is committed to providing quality care to her patients.

Dr. Sillas personally enjoys traveling, scrapbooking, journaling, and exercising with her husband.

Meet Angela Misuraco, WHNP

Angela is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse
Practitioner born and raised in the St. Louis area. She completed her undergraduate degree at Barnes College of Nursing at the University of Missouri, St. Louis and later returned for her graduate degree in Nursing, specializing in women’s health. She enjoys working with a diverse population of women of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Learning to appreciate their similarities and respect their differences. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Angela worked as a research coordinator for Washington University School of Medicine focusing on heart disease and depression. She also had the pleasure of working on the post partum floor at Barnes
Jewish Hospital.

Angela chose to study nursing after experiencing a less than desirable prenatal and delivery experience herself. She enjoys educating and empowering women. She particularly enjoys helping to ease a woman’s fears during her first exam.

In her free time she enjoys traveling, hiking, spinning, Stott Pilates, and running. She volunteers with various dog rescue groups. She lives with her husband and 3 dogs.

Meet Deanna Woodroffe, NP

Deanna Woodroffe holds a master’s degree in Nursing and is board certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She began her career as a Labor & Delivery nurse at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center and has been a nurse practitioner with Women’s Health Specialists for almost 10 years.

Her practice style emphasizes a holistic approach, combining both traditional and alternative medicine and focusing on the cause of health issues instead of only treating symptoms.

Deanna has a passion for functional medicine and is currently completing a fellowship in functional medicine with A4M, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

Deanna’s goal is to empower women to take charge of their health and to help guide them in the necessary steps toward optimal health and wellness. “You can feel better. Whether you are suffering with IBS, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Hormone Imbalance or any other condition that keeps you from being as vibrant and healthy as you would like to be, you don’t have to continue to suffer. It takes time and effort, but utilizing nutrition, high quality supplements, bioidentical hormones and stress reduction techniques, we can restore balance and get you back to where you want to be.”

Meet Tonya Gaither, Certified Doula

Tonya  is a cedoulartified labor and birth doula and is also a postpartum doula and a lactation counselor. Along with courses in continuing education, she relies on experience as a mother of 5 in her care of mothers. Tonya’s personal history includes birthing with an epidural, naturally, and 60 months of breastfeeding spaced over the 5 children. Her passion is to come along side families, supporting them through the amazing time of welcoming new life from pregnancy, through labor and birth and into postpartum.

Her journey to becoming a doula began through the birth of her own children.Delving into everything regarding childbirth and breastfeeding, she desired to share all of the information with others.  She knew that she wanted to help other mothers realize their own strength, standing with them through their own amazing journeys.

Tonya has a passion to assist moms, not only through the birth, but through the process of breastfeeding. This process can begin prior to birth, through education and preparation for the experience coming after baby is born.


Meet the WHS Health Coaches

Coach Gayle holds dual certifications from ACE (American Council on Exercise) as both a Health Coach and Fitness Trainer. Her client focus is empowering women 40+ to reach and maintain their ideal state of health and wellness through lasting behavior change, optimal nutrition and consistent, focused physical activity.

Coach Alison is a Registered Nurse, an ICF (International Coaching Federation) certified Wellness, Fitness and Health Coach, and an ACSM/ NSCA Certified Personal Trainer. She specializes in the health concerns of clients with medical challenges, helping them improve their lives through exercise, nutrition and balanced lifestyle practices.

Coach Marilyn is a physician and an Integrative Health Coach trained at Duke University Center for Integrative Medicine. Her focus is clients with chronic disease or at risk to develop it, helping them to improve their lives and reduce their risks by modifying health habits and lifestyle. She seeks to help clients envision true health and wellness and take steps to move toward that vision.
